Wear the protection
- Certified full-face helmet with a clear visor.
- Armoured, weather-resistant jacket and riding trousers.
- Two pairs of gloves: one ventilated and one warm or waterproof.
- Sturdy over-ankle riding boots and quick-drying socks.
- Rain layer that fits over the complete riding kit.
Build a simple layer system
Mountain temperatures can shift sharply between sun, shade, wind and evening. Pack a moisture-wicking base layer, a warm mid-layer and a windproof, waterproof shell. This is more adaptable than one very heavy jacket.
- Thermal top and bottom.
- Fleece or compact insulated layer.
- Warm cap, neck tube and sunglasses.
- A clean, dry set reserved for the end of the riding day.
Bike essentials
- Tyre repair kit and inflator suited to your wheel and tyre type.
- Manufacturer tool kit plus tools for luggage mounts and commonly accessed fasteners.
- Chain lubricant, cleaning cloth and spare fuses.
- A small quantity of approved emergency consumables appropriate for your motorcycle.
- Bungee cords or straps as backup, never as the primary luggage mount.
Documents and navigation
- Driving licence, registration certificate, insurance and pollution certificate.
- Government-issued identification and any currently required permissions.
- Offline maps, charging cable and power bank.
- Emergency contacts and the group itinerary saved offline.
- Photocopies stored separately from the originals.
Health and responsible travel
Carry only medication appropriate for you and discuss altitude or existing health concerns with a qualified medical professional. Leave room for hydration and a personal first-aid kit.
Before leaving, verify current acclimatisation, weather, road and access advice with Ladakh Tourism and local authorities. Pack out waste and avoid disposable items where reusable options work.
Access, permits, weather and health guidance can change. Confirm current information directly with Ladakh Tourism before you ride.
